
| Biography Ina Buckner-Barnette aka The Sunshine Storyteller fills each show with an exciting and often humorous mix of participatory international folktales, movement activities, songs, poetry and personal stories. Positive stories with an interactive twist are her trademark. And most folks go home still waving their arms or humming a tune after her “Sunshine Show” performances. Regular Sunshine Storyteller venues include museums, libraries, schools, corporate events, community festivals and shopping malls from Barstow to San Diego. Committed to healing through her art, past venues also include Wise Senior Services Adult Day Center, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and www.storybee.org. Ms. Buckner-Barnette is a commissioned artist with the J. Paul Getty Family Storytelling Program, as well as, an award-winning actress/hostess/producer with over 17 years of major market production credits as a TV producer/writer. She co-hosted the Emmy-nominated "City Works" show on LA City Channel 35 for 2 years and appeared in KOCE's "Dollars & $ense: Personal Finance", a PBS series for which she received her first Emmy. Ina co-founded and performed with "Pyramid of Voices" a six-woman performance art troupe focusing on Black poetry for children. For over three years, "Pyramid of Voices" toured the southern California city festivals and public school circuit delighting children and their families with audience participation spoken word shows. She is a certificated Teaching Artist through The Los Angeles Arts Commission. Ina’s video producing and writing talents have also earner her several awards for excellence through the years. Today, she works as a storyteller, teaching artist and actress while teaching Speech to adults part-time for L.A.U.S.D. Ina is a National Storyteller Network State Liaison and a member of SAG, LA Dream Shapers and Griot Workshop. This Midwest native graduated with honors from Emerson College where she studied acting, speech and TV production.
