
| Biography Ina Buckner-Barnette, The Sunshine Storyteller fills each show with an exciting and often humorous mix of participatory international folktales, movement activities, music and personal stories. Positive stories with an interactive twist are her trademark. And most folks go home still waving their arms or humming a tune after her “Sunshine" shows. Committed to empowering through her art, her past venues include Wise Senior Services Adult Day Center and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Other venues include libraries, museums, schools and festivals throughout California. Ina is also an award-winning actress/ hostess/producer with over 17 years of major market production credits as a TV producer/writer. She co- hosted the Emmy-nominated "City Works" show on LA City Channel 35 for 2 years and appeared in KOCE's "Dollars & $ense: Personal Finance", a PBS series for which she received her first Emmy. Moreover, her video producing and writing talents have earner her several awards for excellence through the years. Today, Ina works as a storyteller, teaching artist and actress and teaches adults part-time for L.A.U.S.D. She served as a commissioned artist with The J. Paul Getty Family Storytelling Program from June 2006 - January 2007. She completed the LA Arts Commission Teaching Artist Training Program in June 2006. She has also been a LA Dreamshapers Quality Performing Artist for over two years, as well as, a active member of the National Storytelling Network. This Midwest native graduated with honors from Emerson College where she studied acting, speech and TV production. Her interactive stories will ignite your imagination, tickle your funny bone and make you shine like the sun! |
